Patient Access Representative

• Ensure patient safety by identifying the correct patient, identifying special needs, and preparing isolation precautions
• Provide assistance and services to patients, families, staff, and external agencies with patient registration, admission, and scheduling
• Investigate and resolve customer requests, questions, or problems according to CCHMC policies and procedures
• Contact outside representatives to request information or assistance in resolving problems
• Maintain confidentiality and protect patient/family personal medical and financial information during collection, use, and storage
• Access only information and records necessary to perform job responsibilities
• Complete and authenticate documents and questionnaires required by regulatory agencies, including JCAHO, CMS, and ODH
• Support Revenue Cycle, Health Information Management, and Regulatory functions by obtaining and accurately entering necessary data, information, and forms
• Explain system errors to management and recommend system changes

• High school diploma or equivalent
• No directly related experience
• Ability to identify the correct patient and identify special needs
• Ability to prepare isolation precautions for patients with Infectious Disease indicators
• Ability to accurately complete patient registration, admission, and scheduling
• Ability to investigate and resolve customer requests, questions, or problems according to CCHMC policies and procedures
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and safeguard patient/family personal medical and financial information
• Ability to complete and authenticate documents and questionnaires for regulatory compliance
• Ability to obtain and accurately enter necessary data, information, and forms into appropriate systems

Demonstrates the ability to ensure patient safety through accurate patient identification and preparation of isolation precautions, while maintaining confidentiality and regulatory compliance. Proficient in patient registration, admission, and scheduling processes, with a focus on resolving customer inquiries effectively.
