Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) – Physician Office – Saylor Park School Health Center

Job Summary

The Certified Medical Assistant provides essential support to the primary care physician by reviewing and updating health records, measuring vital signs, and preparing treatment rooms for examinations within the scope and state guidelines.

Essential Functions
  • Provides excellent customer service by greeting patients and the community respectfully.
  • Prepares and reviews patient charts for upcoming visits, verifying all diagnostic test results and medical records are correct and up to date.
  • Measures vital signs such as pulse rate, respiration, blood pressure, weight, and height.
  • Performs departmental clerical duties such as checking inventory, stocking supplies, tracking referrals, and answering phones as needed.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves problems promptly.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Education
  • High School Degree or GED.
Licensure/Certification
  • Active Medical Assisting certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA, NRCMA, NCMA, NCCT, or equivalent) is required.
  • Assessment-Based Recognition in Order Entry (A
    -OE) is acceptable in certain cases but not accepted in South Carolina.
  • BLS Basic Life Support is required at hire for specific locations; preferred elsewhere.
Experience
  • One year of medical assistant healthcare experience (preferred, not required).
  • Two years of clerical experience in a physician’s office (preferred, not required).
Skills & Abilities
  • Problem-solving and basic computer skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Professional engagement with staff and patients.
