About the Role

The People Operations Team is an essential part of our mission to create an exceptional employee experience  our Payroll Specialist, you will report to our Director of People Operations. You’ll own and lead the full payroll lifecycle, ensuring every team member is paid accurately, on time, and with complete confidence in the process. While payroll is your core responsibility, your impact extends far beyond transactions!

You’ll serve as a trusted partner to employees, HR, and Finance, helping create a seamless, transparent, and supportive experience across the entire employee journey.

This role is perfect for someone who is highly detail‑oriented, empathetic, and passionate about process excellence and employee advocacy. You’ll bring structure, compliance, and clarity to one of the most critical aspects of People Operations, directly supporting our mission to create beautiful technology and equip churches and ministries worldwide.

Your Priorities

Payroll Processing & Accuracy:

  • Own the end-to-end processing of [weekly/bi-weekly] payroll, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness for all employees.
  • Review payroll data, audits, and reconciliations to proactively identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Manage payroll adjustments, bonuses, commissions, retro pay, and special payroll runs as needed.

Employee Experience & Support:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for payroll-related questions, providing clear, empathetic, and timely support.
  • Explain payroll, deductions, and tax-related topics in an accessible and approachable way.
  • Handle sensitive payroll matters with the highest degree of confidentiality and professionalism.

Compliance &

Risk Management:

  • Maintain deep knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll regulations to ensure full compliance.
  • Monitor and apply changes in labor laws, tax regulations, and payroll best practices.
  • Support audits, reporting, and internal controls related to payroll and compliance.

Benefits & Systems Integration:

  • Partner closely with People Ops and Finance to ensure seamless integration between payroll, benefits administration, and HR systems.
  • Manage payroll-related benefits deductions and contributions, including health benefits, retirement plans, and leave programs.
  • Ensure accurate data flow across systems such as UKG Pro, Bamboo

    HR, and other payroll or HR platforms.
