Winton Woods City Schools is seeking a strategic, collaborative, and student-centered leader to serve as our next Executive Director of Human Resources.
This executive-level position serves as the district's chief human capital officer and provides leadership for all personnel functions across the organization. The successful candidate will play a critical role in building and sustaining a high-performing workforce that supports excellence for every student.

Position Overview
The Executive Director of Human Resources reports directly to the Superintendent and advises both the Superintendent and Board of Education on workforce strategy, labor relations, compliance, and organizational effectiveness.
This is a management-level position excluded from collective bargaining pursuant to Ohio Revised Code 4117.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Human Capital Leadership
- Lead all district Human Resources operations and initiatives.
- Advise on workforce planning, staffing structures, and organizational effectiveness.
- Align human capital strategy with district goals and enrollment projections.
- Present personnel recommendations to the Board of Education.
- Oversee recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and assignment of certificated and classified staff.
- Develop innovative strategies to attract and retain diverse, high-quality candidates.
- Maintain and update job descriptions and staffing documentation.
- Support leadership development and succession planning initiatives.
- Coordinates student teacher and university partnership placements as well as district workforce development programs (e.g., Growing Our Own).
- Administer and interpret collective bargaining agreements.
- Support negotiations and labor strategy development.
- Oversee grievance procedures and ensure contractual compliance.
- Manage seniority lists and reduction-in-force processes when necessary.
- Guide administrators on performance management and progressive discipline.
- Oversee evaluation systems and improvement processes.
- Investigate employee concerns and ensure compliance with Title IX and employment regulations.
- Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local employment laws.
- Collaborate with the Treasurer's Office on compensation and benefits administration.
- Oversee leave administration, licensure compliance, and required state reporting.
- Assist with personnel budgeting and staffing cost projections.
The ideal candidate will:
- Hold an advanced degree in Educational Leadership, Human Resources, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Possess a minimum of five (5) years of progressive leadership experience in Human Resources or educational administration.
- Hold (or be eligible to obtain) a valid Ohio Administrative License.
- Demonstrate successful experience in labor relations, employee relations, recruitment, and compliance within a public sector environment.
- Exhibit strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret policy, contracts, and data to inform decision-making.
- Demonstrate executive presence, discretion, and the ability to build trust across diverse stakeholder groups.
