The Human Resources Generalist is a HR professional responsible for supporting day-to-day HR operations while partnering with managers and employees to ensure consistent, compliant, and people-focused practices. This role handles a broad range of HR functions including team member relations, benefits administration, compliance, and HR policy support. The HR Generalist works independently on routine matters and collaborates with senior HR leadership on more complex initiatives.

Essential duties and responsibilities

  • Administer HR policies, procedures, and programs consistently
  • Maintain employee records and HRIS data with accuracy, data integrity and confidentiality
  • Support benefits administration, open enrollment, and employee benefit inquiries
  • Process employee status changes, terminations, and offboarding activities
  • Set up new team members in ADP, ensuring accurate entry of employee data, job details, and required documentation
  • Support ADP onboarding tasks and workflows to support a smooth and compliant new hire experience
  • Assist with internal HR reporting and documentation needs
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations[BP1]
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for employee HR questions and employee relations matters
  • Provide guidance to managers on workplace issues, corrective actions, performance conversations, documentation, coaching and conflict resolution
  • Assist with investigations and documentation related to employee concerns, policy violations, and workplace issues
  • Partner with leadership to identify workforce needs and mitigate HR-related risks
  • Promote a positive, inclusive, and compliant workplace culture
  • Assist with audits, reporting, and HR compliance initiatives
  • Help develop, update, and communicate HR policies and employee handbook content
  • Collaborate with operations, safety, and leadership teams to drive a positive, safe, and productive work environment.
  • Support local and enterprise-wide projects as assigned.
  • Stay abreast of HR trends, best practices, and regulatory changes and make recommendations for continuous improvement.

Education and Experience

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 3–6 years of progressive HR experience in a generalist role
  • Working knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices
  • Experience working within an HRIS platform; ADP experience preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to set priorities and manage a variety of tasks to achieve results
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism

Preferred

  • HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP, or similar)
  • Experience supporting multi-site or field-based employees

  • Frequent walking, standing, and sitting for extended periods.
  • Ability to work in industrial environments, including exposure to loud noise, heavy machinery, and potential environmental hazards.
  • Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities under deadlines, analyze operational challenges, and make high-stakes decisions.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to rapidly changing environments
  • Travel required, including overnight stays as needed
