Clovernook Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired

Clovernook Center for the Blind & Visually Impaired is seeking a Human Resources Manager to support the smooth and efficient operation of the Human Resources Department while helping advance Clovernook’s mission to empower people who are blind or visually impaired to lead active, productive, and independent lives.

Position Summary

The Human Resources Manager is responsible for managing key HR functions, supporting employees and supervisors, ensuring compliance, and promoting a positive and inclusive work environment. This role serves as an initial and primary point of contact for HR-related questions and provides guidance on hiring practices, employee relations, policies and procedures, compensation, benefits, payroll, and other human resources matter. The Human Resources Manager reports to the CEO.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepares governmental compliance requirements such as EEO-1, Vets-100, NIB reports, and Affirmative Action Plan.
  • Administers and processes bi-weekly payroll, including reviewing time and attendance records, ensuring accurate payroll data entry, resolving payroll discrepancies, and coordinating with Finance to ensure timely and accurate payroll processing.
  • Ensures the integrity of the overall compensation system.
  • Rates positions, participates in compensation surveys and develops wage and salary scales with both internal and external consistency.
  • Assists with the annual budget process by providing accurate compensation and benefit expense data.
  • Develops and presents training programs and materials on a variety of HR topics for supervisors, managers, and employees.
  • Manage HR compliance, reporting, HRIS data, job descriptions, and personnel records.
  • Lead recruitment, interviewing, candidate communication, employment offers, onboarding, and orientation.
  • Support compensation, benefits, vendor relationships, open enrollment, and annual budget data.
  • Develop HR procedures, performance evaluation processes, training materials, and employee communications.
  • Provide guidance on employee relations, policies, best practices, and workplace accessibility needs.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Five plus years of human resources generalist experience required; experience in the non-profit sector is a plus.
  • Experience with HRIS systems required;
    Paylocity experience preferred.
  • PHR or SPHR certification preferred.
  • Ability to effectively communicate HR concepts and issues to employees, supervisors, and managers.
  • Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and meet organizational deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and general computer applications.
  • Ability to create and manage secure electronic personnel files.
  • Ability to successfully complete a post-offer, pre-employment drug screen, criminal background check, and driving background check.

This individual will bring strong knowledge of HR best practices, compliance, employee relations, payroll, benefits, recruitment, and performance management, along with the ability to communicate clearly, maintain confidentiality, and build positive working relationships across the organization.
