Must have:
- Proven experience as a Snowflake DBA or in a similar capacity managing cloud-based data platforms.
- Strong expertise in SQL and techniques for performance tuning.
- In-depth knowledge of Snowflake architecture, including virtual warehouses, storage layers, and caching mechanisms.
- Background in data security frameworks and compliance standards.
- Acquainted with ETL/ELT tools and data integration frameworks.
- Outstanding problem-solving abilities, communication skills, and documentation experience.
- Preferred:
Snow Pro Certification (Core or Advanced). - Preferred:
Experience with automation tools (e.g., dbt, Terraform). - Preferred:
Familiarity with other cloud platforms (AWS) and their integration with Snowflake. - Preferred:
Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or Shell for administrative tasks.
- Analyze and enhance complex SQL queries and workloads to promote efficient resource use and cost control.
- Monitor and optimize Snowflake compute resources (warehouses) for peak performance.
- Implement best practices for data modeling, partitioning, clustering, and indexing.
- Oversee user roles, access controls, and data masking policies to uphold compliance with security standards.
- Collaborate with Info Sec and compliance teams to execute data governance policies.
- Conduct audits and monitor data access and usage patterns to identify anomalies and safeguard data.
- Maintain clean and well-organized schemas, tables, and views across various environments.
- Establish automated routines for eliminating obsolete data, archiving, and managing metadata.
- Guarantee consistency and reliability of data pipelines and integrations with Snowflake.
- Work in close partnership with data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to facilitate data initiatives.
- Offer guidance and mentorship to junior DBAs and members of the data team.
- Keep up to date with Snowflake features, updates, and industry trends to continually enhance platform capabilities.
