Job Description – Small & Large Format Printer Technician (NOT remote)
Location: Cincinnati and surrounding areas

Eastern Engineering Supply is seeking a skilled copier technician to join our family-owned company in the Cincinnati, Ohio region. A WBENC-Certified company, we provide sales, service, and supplies for printing and printing equipment. We offer affordable rental programs for wide format printers and office copiers. We are also known for printing CAD drawings and plans in color.
Job SummaryThe Printer Technician is responsible for the installation, repair, troubleshooting and maintenance of multifunctional devices (small and large format copiers and printers), including HP, KIP, Canon, OCE, Xerox, Epson and more).
This role requires spending most of the day on the road
, responding to customer needs by providing expert printer and copier maintenance in assigned service areas.
Success in this position depends on building and maintaining strong relationships with clients in the architecture, engineering, construction, government and manufacturing industries. To excel in this role, the technician must have strong technical expertise
, problem solving skills, and excellent customer service to ensure minimal downtime and maximum efficiency for our customers.
Candidates MUST HAVE 2+ years’ experience working with copier/printer devices, such as HP, KIP, Xerox, Canon, Epson.
- Install and configure copiers, printers, scanners, ensuring they are operational and meet user requirements.
- Perform routine maintenance, repairing or replacing faulty components such as fusers, rollers, and drums.
- Test and calibrate devices to ensure optimal print quality and performance.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with Xerox and Canon small format printers, including inkjet and laser models.
- Update and configure printer software, firmware, and network settings as needed.
- Provide technical support and training to users, helping them understand how to operate the equipment effectively.
- Educate customers on proper printer usage, maintenance, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Document service calls, repairs, and customer interactions accurately.
- Communicate with customers in an efficient and professional manner.
- Maintain an adequate inventory of parts, tools, and supplies for common repairs.
- Coordinate with the Service Director to order replacement parts and consumables.
- Monitor and report service trends and recurring issues to enhance efficiency.
- Work closely with the service team and office staff to ensure efficient operations.
- Stay updated on the latest HP, KIP, Canon, Xerox and Epson printer models, technologies, and service techniques.
- Attend training sessions and obtain certifications as required.
Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
RequiredSkills & Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2+ years of experience in customer service.
- 2+ years of experience in printer/copier repair, preferably with Xerox, Canon, and / or Epson LARGE format devices is a MUST (small format experience is preferred, in addition to large).
- Strong knowledge & understanding of copier & printer technology, mechanics, electrical components, and networking.
- Proficiency in diagnosing & resolving issues related to print quality, paper feeding, and connectivity.
- Basic IT knowledge, including driver installation, network troubleshooting, and software configuration.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record (for onsite service calls).
- Certifications from Xerox, Canon, Epson, HP, KIP or other major printer manufacturers.
- Experience with additional brands in small and large format printers is a plus.
- Familiarity with Windows and Mac OS printing environments.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 55 pounds.
- Frequent sitting as daily travel is required.
- Frequent standing, bending, and reaching.
- Ability to work in varied environments (office settings, warehouses, and client locations).
