Job Summary

This position must reside in Columbus, OH, Cincinnati, OH, or Detroit, MI. Amazon Web Services is looking for a highly motivated Solutions Architect to accelerate our growing State and Local Government business as part of the World Wide Public Sector practice. As a Solutions Architect, you will have the opportunity to help shape and deliver on a strategy to build broad use of Amazon's utility computing web services (e.g., AWS EC2, AWS S3, AWS RDS, and AWS Cloud Front) directly with customers and our ecosystem of system integrators and solution providers.

• In partnership with the Sales team, formulate and execute a sales strategy to exceed revenue objectives through the adoption of AWS
• As a key member of the business development and sales team, ensure success in building and migrating applications, software and services on the AWS platform
• Educate customers on the value proposition of AWS, and participate in deep architectural discussions to ensure solutions are designed for successful deployment in the cloud
• Conduct one‑to‑few and one‑to‑many training sessions to transfer knowledge to customers considering or already using AWS (e.g., Dev Days or Immersion Days)
• Capture and share best‑practice knowledge amongst the AWS Solutions Architect community
• Contribute to AWS customer‑facing publications such as white papers
• Act as a technical liaison between customers, Service Teams and Support

• 8+ years of specific technology domain experience (e.g., software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics)
• 3+ years of design, implementation or consulting in applications and infrastructures
• 10+ years of IT development or implementation/consulting in the software or Internet industries

• 5+ years of infrastructure architecture, database architecture and networking experience
• Experience working with end‑user or developer communities
• Knowledge of software development tools and methodologies

• Technical presentation experience – whiteboard, small and large group presentations
• Web services development/deployment experience, cloud computing
• Site/service operations, management and security
• Ability to travel 30%

Base salary range: USA, MI, Detroit – 153,600 – 207,800 USD annually; USA, OH, Columbus – 153,600 – 207,800 USD annually; USA, OH, Cincinnati – 153,600 – 207,800 USD annually. Your package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications and location.
