Data Engineer Job Description
We are seeking a Data Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will play a key part in designing, developing, and maintaining scalable data management systems that support enterprise analytics, business intelligence, and data-driven decision-making. You will collaborate with data architects, data scientists, business analysts, and IT teams to build robust data pipelines, optimize data infrastructure, and ensure the integrity, reliability, and accessibility of enterprise data assets.
Key Responsibilities- Design, develop, implement, test, and maintain scalable data management systems and data pipelines.
- Build and optimize ETL processes to support enterprise reporting, analytics, and business intelligence initiatives.
- Design and develop high-performance data models, algorithms, and prototypes to support business needs.
- Ensure data systems meet business requirements, performance expectations, and industry best practices.
- Integrate emerging data management technologies and engineering solutions into existing enterprise data environments.
- Develop standardized processes for data ingestion, transformation, modeling, and production.
- Create custom software components and analytics applications to support enterprise data initiatives.
- Research and evaluate new methods for acquiring, processing, and utilizing data.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including data architects, business analysts, developers, IT teams, and data scientists.
- Implement and maintain disaster recovery procedures for enterprise data platforms.
- Monitor and improve data quality, integrity, reliability, and overall system performance.
- Recommend innovative solutions that improve scalability, automation, and operational efficiency.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical field; equivalent experience will be considered.
- Experience with:
- Snowflake
- IBM Data Stage
- ETL development and support
- Business Intelligence systems
- Data integration technologies
- Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts and data modeling techniques.
- Experience with relational and non-relational databases including:
- SQL Server
- MySQL
- No
SQL databases - Hadoop
- MongoDB
- Experience programming or developing backend applications using Java, J2EE, or similar object‑oriented programming languages.
- Experience performing business analysis and translating business requirements into technical solutions.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in cross-functional, Agile development environments.
- Experience working with Mainframe data environments.
- Experience developing cloud-based data solutions and modern data platforms.
- Familiarity with:
- Data governance
- Metadata management
- Data quality frameworks
- Master Data Management (MDM)
- Experience with modern Business Intelligence and analytics platforms.
- Knowledge of automation, orchestration, and enterprise data integration best practices.
- Experience supporting large-scale enterprise data warehouse initiatives.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and Dev Ops practices.
- Location: Onsite – Cincinnati, Ohio
- Travel: Minimal, as required
