Senior Information Technology Coordinator II

Under general direction of the assigned Administrator, is responsible for performing senior professional level business systems analysis and project management activities which include overseeing the operation and usage of a departmental information technology system, developing procedures for and performing technical tasks, and troubleshooting related items relative to the system software. Identifying and resolving user support issues, providing training and instructions for system users, and ensuring that the Cincinnati Public Schools (CPS) goals and technology standards are followed.

Examples of work performed:

  • Assesses customer and/or business process requirements; analyzes structure and flow of work and data that support needs; evaluates possible solutions and implements and/or recommends solutions that support the mission, values and goals of the District.
  • Performs project management and participates on project teams responsible for system application software implementation and upgrades.
  • Assist in determining project scope and staff resources required to complete projects.
  • Prepares project work plans and timelines.
  • Monitors project milestones and reports project progress to management.
  • Works closely with other technical staff, vendors, and contacts from other institutions to ensure timely and efficient completion of projects.
  • Creates, develops and oversees processes, protocols and procedures, ensuring compliance.
  • Assures technical support problem resolution related to networks, servers, database management software, operating systems, and/or business application software systems through cooperative relationship with District ITM department and software vendor.
  • Performs system administration activities, which includes the creation and maintenance of the software and related application software upgrades.
  • Creates and maintains standards, procedures, and documentation related to area of responsibility.
  • May participate in audits and perform process testing, ensuring a secure processing environment that protects the integrity and availability of information.
  • Implements system changes and administers access to systems and information utilizing approved information technology security policies, standards and guidelines.
  • May supervise technical/support staff as required by individual position(s); participates in training of staff as necessary.
  • Effectively communicates with all levels of the organization to ensure project success and user needs are identified and met.
  • Leads and facilitates training.
  • Creates training documentation available to a wide-variety of audiences within the District.
  • Participates in/on a variety of meetings, groups, and/or committees to communicate and confer about process analysis of existing procedures and systems, determine complexities of new processes and projects, prepare for testing, discuss the roll-out of new projects and software upgrades, and/or discuss other applicable issues.
  • Researches and recommends required application configurations and procedure changes to ensure optimum performance and capability to meet the business needs of the District.
  • Serve as a financial system/subject matter expert and advise on decisions involving the maintenance and daily operations of a departmental Information Technology system.
  • Performs routine tasks, such as producing or instructing others to produce adhoc query reports; reviewing input material and finished products for accuracy and completeness.
  • Maintain and coordinate the design of the department website.
  • Uses established tracking system to log requests; monitors progress, tracks problems resolution; communicates with the manager regarding unresolved problems.
  • May assume duties of absent employees within the department.
  • May assume duties of the department head in her/his absence.
  • Utilize a PC and related software required to perform job activities.
  • Perform related duties as assigned or as needed.
