As a member of Center Grid's 24x7x365operations team, a Senior Network Engineer has overall responsibility for managed client networks and their connectivity to Center Grid.

This includes functional networks in the customers, LAN, WLAN and WAN spaces and encompasses a variety of technologies, manufacturers, protocols, and standards. In this capacity, a Senior Network Engineer also actively participates in ITIL v3-driven incident, problem, change, configuration, performance, capacity management, and continuous improvement of devices and resources monitored and managed by Center Grid

Responsibilities Include
  • Designs, develops, configures, deploys, and documents functional and secure network solutions and their required components, as well as the necessary processes and procedures to operationalize them across the organization.
  • Responds to and resolves client issues utilizing technology tools, procedures, and training through awareness of service offerings and Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Provides direct customer interaction as needed in support of customer operations.
  • Understands Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL), supports and follows predefined ITIL incident, problem, and change management processes in place for each client when working to resolve client's requests and outages.
  • Provides rotating on‑call SME 24x7 after‑hours support.
  • Provides technical leadership and acts as a technical resource and escalation point for Tier I and II technical teams, and mentors team members.
  • Interact with co‑workers to coordinate and disseminate information to complete job assignments in order to attain company service objectives.
  • Provides and executes periodic environment reviews and client health checks, collects statistical information, monitors growth, and suggests enhancements of services or resiliency of environments to management and the customer.
  • Train junior staff on IT operations and technologies.
  • Maintain IT asset inventory and CMDB.
  • Sets course for repeatable processes and automation of recurring tasks.
  • Tracks time utilization using Center Grid's standard tooling.
  • Support Security Incident Response protocols.
  • Supports Vulnerability Remediation protocols.
  • Remediates security vulnerabilities per process.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations as well as policies and procedures of Center Grid to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical, and professional behaviors.
  • Supports and conducts oneself in a manner consistent with customer service expectations.
Required Skills
  • Minimum of 5 years industry‑related experience as a Network Engineer or Network Administrator in Enterprise and Managed Services Networking environments.
  • Realizes value in end‑to‑end service delivery as critical to individual and company success.
  • Experience/Understanding of network architecture design, implementation, administration and support.
  • Experience/Understanding of communication and network protocols(TCP/IP, ARP, DNS, HTTP, HTTPS, etc.).Experience/Understanding of MPLS, VPN technologies and protocols (Remote Access & Site to Site - IPSEC, L2TP, PPTP, SSL/TLS, SSH, etc.).
  • Experience with a variety of manufacturers and network operating systems (Arista, Cisco, Fortinet, Brocade, Ubiquity, Palo Alto, etc.).
  • Experience/Understanding of wireless networking technologies.
  • Experience/Understanding of legacy and Next Generation Firewalls and functionality (IDS, IPS, DPI,etc.)with access control models and network security.
  • Understanding of ticket management software.
  • Meets deadlines by prioritizing work requests based on sense of urgency.
  • Follows through with tasks, projects, and troubleshooting with minimal supervision.
  • Self‑starter with excellent organizational, administrative, and interpersonal skills.
  • Local travel and overnight travel to Center Grid and client offices may be necessary (typically less than
    10%).
  • Ensure all necessary operational processes and procedures are carried out with a high level of attention to detail, expediency, and on‑time delivery.
  • Stays on the leading edge of technology by learning new techniques and methods through continual education.
  • Excellent punctuality and attendance.
Preferred

Skills and Experience:
  • Experience with VMware NSX (and subvariants).
  • Experience with SD‑WAN technologies.
  • Experience with VoIP technologies.
  • Experience with SIEM.
  • Preferred 2- or 4-year degree or technical training (technical school or military)
  • Experience with Major Incident support.
