Claims Trainee

Overview

Mass Mutual Ascend is a leading provider of annuities committed to taking financial futures above and beyond. Our Annuity Claims team looks for an organized and driven individual to serve as a Claims Trainee. In this position you research, review, and process incoming claims with accuracy and dedication, fulfilling the promise made to our policyholders and aiding beneficiaries during a difficult time while working in a team‑centered environment.

• Research and analyze claim documentation thoroughly to determine pertinent details.
• Prepare well‑written communication to all clients, internal and external, and convey simple to moderately complex information to all appropriate parties while maintaining a professional demeanor.
• Make claim processing determinations based on knowledge, training, and experience and process claims according to policy provisions and state regulations.
• Ensure that claim handling is conducted in compliance with applicable statutes, regulations, and other legal requirements, and that all applicable company procedures and policies are followed.
• Maintain detailed files including all claim documents and correspondence.
• Interact with customer service representatives, legal counsel, and other departments to aid in claim handling.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Maintain familiarity with policies and procedures, as well as the business and organization.
• Comply with company and regulatory guidelines.

• Bachelor’s degree or related experience.
• Detail‑oriented with strong analytical and time‑management skills.
• Ability to multi‑task in a fast‑paced environment.
• Experience using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, One Note, etc.).

• Previous claims or annuity‑related experience is preferred.
