Job Description

The role of an interpreter is to facilitate understanding in communication between people who speak different languages. The professional interpreter interprets between two languages in such a way that effective communications takes place between the participating language speakers/signers.

• Render accurate, comprehensive and professional interpreting services per the national Code of Ethics.
• Interpreting activity is performed in compliance with the IMIA Standards of Practice, National Standards of Practice for Interpreters in Health Care, and the Code of Ethics.
• Maintain professional standards by attending continuing education trainings to maintain the highest standards for delivery of service.
• Speak, read, and write fluently in ENGLISH and TARGET language.

• At least a high school education.
• The ability to speak English and at least one other language at a fluent level (or Sign Language).
• Willing to be trained in medical or legal interpreting.
• Sensitive to cultures other than your own.
• Legally able to work in the United States.
• Willing to do screening including: TB test, drug test, and FBI background check.
• Able to provide documentation of MMR/Varicella immunizations.
• Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
