Hours:

Monday-Friday, 1st shift    The Buyer II is responsible for end-to-end materials management activities supporting clinical trial operations. The Buyer II operates with moderate autonomy, partners cross-functionally with Project Management, Sourcing, Finance, and external vendors, and plays a key role in ensuring continuity of supply for critical clinical trial kits and materials.

This position requires strong analytical skills, a working knowledge of clinical supply chain processes, and the ability to proactively mitigate supply risks while maintaining compliance with Thermo Fisher Scientific and GxP standards.

Key Responsibilities
Procurement & Buying
Execute purchasing activities for clinical trial in accordance with demand plans and project timelines.
Create, manage purchase requisitions within approved system.
Partner with Sourcing and Strategic Procurement to support supplier selection, pricing reviews, and contract adherence.
Monitor supplier performance, lead times, and service levels; proactively escalate risks and propose mitigation strategies.
Inventory & Materials Management
Own and optimize min/max inventory parameters to balance service level, cost, and inventory exposure.
Analyze inventory trends, forecasts, and consumption data to anticipate future demand and prevent stockouts or excess inventory.
Manage intercompany and intracompany transfers, ensuring accurate documentation and system transactions.
Collaborate closely with Project Managers, Kit Production, and Logistics to align supply plans with study milestones.
Support escalations related to material shortages, shipment delays, or quality concerns by providing data-driven recommendations.
Quality, Compliance & Systems
Ensure materials management activities comply with Good Clinical Practice (GCP), Good Distribution Practice (GDP), and internal SOPs.
Work with sourcing to guarantee accurate material master data, part numbers, and purchasing records within enterprise systems.
Support audits, inspections, and internal reviews by providing documentation and process explanations as required.
Contribute to the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of SOPs, work instructions, and training materials related to materials and procurement processes.
Continuous Improvement & Expertise
Act as a subject matter expert for materials buying processes, systems, and tools within the team.
Identify opportunities for process efficiencies, cost savings, and risk reduction across the supply chain.
Mentor junior coordinators and provide guidance on purchasing, inventory management, and issue resolution.
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Logistics, Life Sciences, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
Typically 4–6 years of progressive experience in procurement, materials management, logistics, or supply chain operations, preferably within clinical trials, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, or regulated…
