Nutrition Supply Buyer – Good Samaritan Hospital

Location:

Good Samaritan Hospital, 375 Dixmyth Ave, Cincinnati, OH 45220

Schedule:

Full‑time (40 hours per week);
Day Shift;
No weekend rotation;
Holiday rotation (closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas)

Job Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED with one year of relevant experience, or one year in a prior Tri Health Nutrition role (acceptable in lieu of minimum education)
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office programs
  • Knowledge of purchase orders (PO)
  • Familiarity with supply chain and project management
  • Experience with personal computer usage
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to analyze spending data, inventory levels, and product demand
  • Strong organizational skills
Job Overview

This position manages the purchasing process for all nutrition supplies while ensuring compliance with contracts. The buyer works with site leaders and off‑site leaders to order and fill all department requisitions, maintain vendor relationships, review vendor invoicing, and manage delivery schedules. Responsibilities also include inventory management, receiving trucks, stocking, regulatory compliance for storage, and coordinating courier services.

Job Responsibilities
  • Manage the purchasing process for all nutrition supplies, ensuring orders meet contract and organizational standards.
  • Coordinate with the purchasing department on special orders and LAWSON item maintenance.
  • Maintain strong vendor relationships and track service issues.
  • Review and verify vendor invoices upon delivery, reporting discrepancies to vendors and site leaders.
  • Communicate changes or issues with delivery schedules to appropriate leaders.
  • Conduct inventory at least three times weekly and adjust par levels based on usage.
  • Oversee receiving of supply trucks, verify products, and support staff with stocking.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance for storage areas, including cleanliness, organization, rotation, and labeling.
  • Collaborate with site and off‑site leaders to process and fulfill all department requisitions.
  • Manage courier services for off‑site locations and schedule pick‑ups directly with requesting parties.
  • Maintain accurate charge documentation and communicate billing details to the nutrition administrator.
  • Identify and manage substitutions for out‑of‑stock items.
  • Communicate potential supply barriers to the clinical nutrition team.
