What Will I Do?

As the Bakery Sourcing Manager, you’ll use deep expertise in bakery products, global supply markets, and cost drivers—paired with powerful data insights—to build sourcing strategies that strengthen Kroger’s competitive edge. You’ll analyze real‑time market data, supplier performance metrics, and forecasting models while monitoring shifting market dynamics and seasonal ingredient and finished product cycles to ensure customers have access to high‑quality products at the right price and the right time.

Every day brings fresh opportunities to lead sourcing events, negotiate complex supplier agreements, optimize supplier portfolios, and refine strategies that enhance supply resiliency and category performance. As the Bakery Sourcing Manager one of your key responsibilities will be conducting Make vs Buy analysis with our Manufacturing plants and stakeholders. Through disciplined execution, data‑driven decision‑making, and agile problem‑solving, you’ll shape the roadmap that drives value, supports promotional and merchandising plans, and safeguards consistent supply for millions of Kroger shoppers.

This role is highly collaborative—partnering closely with Merchandising, Operations, Kroger’s Manufacturing plants, and a diverse network of supplier partners. You’ll work hand‑in‑hand with Merchandising leaders to align sourcing decisions with customer expectations, category growth goals, and promotional strategies. You’ll meet regularly with suppliers—both domestic and international—to foster relationships built on trust, innovation, and continuous improvement. Internally, you’ll guide and support analysts, ensuring sourcing initiatives run smoothly and in sync with business priorities.
