General Description

Under direction, manages and oversees the procurement, commissioning, maintenance, operations, repair and replacement of passenger vehicles, CDL required vehicles, heavy construction equipment, and small powered equipment along with multiple fueling system facilities for the Hamilton County Engineer’s Office. Establishes service standards, operational controls and effective scheduling for preventive maintenance and repair activities to maximize fleet asset readiness, reliability, and efficiency. Proficiently utilizes and administers modern computerized maintenance management, parts inventory, and vehicle location tracking (GPS) systems and uses these to ensure accurate work orders, asset, inventory, and performance reporting.

Proactively communicates and coordinates with internal stakeholders to identify opportunities for increased efficiency and safety through innovative or updated equipment and processes. Leads regulatory, safety, and compliance activities for fleet operations consistent with applicable laws and established policies, procedures, and protocols. Manages vendor relationships, procurement coordination, and budget development/oversight within delegated authority and established purchasing and financial processes, supporting stewardship of public resources and responsive service delivery aligned with HCEO’s mission and values.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Fleet Operations and Service Delivery
  • Plans, develops, implements, directs, and manages continuous improvement of day‑to‑day fleet services operations; establishes and communicates work priorities, service standards, and performance expectations for preventive maintenance and repair activities.
  • Implements operational controls and performance monitoring to support safe, reliable fleet readiness and continuity of operations.
Fleet Systems, Work Orders, Asset/Inventory Controls, and Reporting
  • Develops and manages fleet operational controls using computerized work order, asset, inventory, vehicle location (GPS) and reporting systems.
  • Establishes standards for data integrity, preventive maintenance schedules, backlog management, parts usage controls, documentation, and performance reporting.
  • Monitors system data and reporting outputs to ensure accuracy and effectiveness.
  • Produces operational reports and recommends actions to improve service delivery and cost effectiveness.
Compliance, Risk Management, and Safety
  • Leads regulatory, safety, environmental, and compliance activities associated with fleet operations consistent with applicable laws and established programs, procedures, and protocols.
  • Coordinates inspections, documentation standards, and issue resolution activities to support inspection and audit readiness and continuous improvement.
  • Includes responsibility for fuel systems compliance documentation and operational coordination within assigned scope and consistent with established procedures.
Vendor/Contract Administration and Procurement Coordination
  • Manages vendor relationships and contract administration for fleet management and services, including parts, supplies, equipment, and specialized repair/support services.
