Position: Field Service Engineer 1

Overview

Rapiscan Systems designs, manufactures and markets security and inspection systems worldwide. Our products are used to inspect baggage, cargo, people, vehicles and other objects for weapons, explosives, drugs and other contraband. Rapiscan Systems security and inspection devices can be found in a wide range of locations such as airports, border crossings, railway stations, seaports and terminals, government and military installations and nuclear facilities.

Rapiscan is currently seeking a Field Service Engineer to be part of our fast‑paced and quality focused team. The candidate for this position will be based in the Cincinnati, Ohio area. A Field Service Engineer has the primary responsibility of ensuring the users of Rapiscan’s equipment are satisfied with its performance. The Field Service Engineer will be required to provide basic installation, troubleshooting, diagnostic, repair, and maintenance support with total customer satisfaction in mind.

This individual must demonstrate strong electronic repair and troubleshooting skills and knowledge.

Responsibilities
  • Installs, repairs, and maintains equipment in the field.
  • Achieve contractual requirements for metrics, information reporting and customer management.
  • Must be able to respond to emergency and non‑scheduled calls for service daily within established response time goals.
  • Responsible for meeting daily service repair needs and driving customer satisfaction at assigned sites / locations.
  • Completes all scheduled maintenance within required deadlines.
  • Documents all maintenance and repair work submitting paperwork in required time frame.
  • Order, install, and return parts per regulation.
  • Maintain a safe/clean work environment and ensure company safety procedures and product workmanship procedures are adhered to:
    • Report all accident and safety incidents. Complete accident reports when required and work with management to investigate, identify, and implement corrective/preventative actions.
    • Ability to complete all training courses within a timely manner with stated passing grades.

  • Demonstrate behavior consistent with the Company’s Code of Ethics and Conduct.
  • It is the responsibility of every Rapiscan Systems employee to report to their manager or a member of senior management any quality problems or defects in order for corrective action to be implemented and to avoid recurrence of the problem.
  • Duties may be modified or assigned at any time to meet the needs of the business.
Qualifications
  • Associate of Science degree in electronics or a related technical discipline or equivalent military training or equivalent experience.
  • 4 years of experience in field service environment, x‑ray industry highly desired, or Bachelor of Science degree in electronics, engineering, or related technical discipline.
  • Must have knowledge of electronic and mechanical assemblies, as well as wiring diagrams and schematics.
  • Familiarity with test equipment (DVM and oscilloscope) and experience with high voltage and x‑ray producing equipment preferred.
  • Maintain clear and concise business communication proficiency, both oral and written.
  • Detail oriented, well organized, and self‑motivated with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Computer literate: competency in use of programs within MS Office Suite and aptitude for learning specialized software programs.
  • Must be team player with ability to work under pressure in fast‑paced environment with minimal oversight.
  • Flexible schedule based on locations’ contractual operational; non‑standard hours including on‑call, weekends and holidays required.
  • Available to travel on short notice, non‑standard hours, on weekends and holidays to assist other field sites as required.
  • Travel required 0‑75% by air or car with some overnights.
  • Ability to pass an in-depth background check - Sensitive Security Information (SSI).
  • Must be a US citizen.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with reliable transportation.
