GENERAL DESCRIPTIONProvide a clean and safe environment for students and staff by performing the following duties.
QUALIFICATIONSHigh school diploma or general education degree (GED)One to two years related experience desiredPROFESSIONAL EXPECTATIONSReport to work regularly and on time, prepared to perform appropriately assigned duties throughout the day, in service to students, staff, and the community.Prepare for and perform all assigned duties required by one's job description in a positive and collaborative manner.Follow justifiable directives issued by the established chain of authority with a learning-oriented attitude and seek support when needed.Identify, report, and/or if possible control unsafe conditions or safety hazards in order to maintain safe and secure working and learning environments.Demonstrate professional respect and integrity when interacting with students, parents, staff, community members and other stakeholders. This includes and is not limited to verbal, nonverbal, personal and electronic interactions.Comply with federal laws, state statutes, Board policies, and related administrative guidelines that prohibit coercive, harassing, threatening, retaliating, bullying or discriminating conduct.Communicate in a truthful, timely, compassionate, and empathetic manner about any matter of interest to the District following the appropriate chain of authority.Manage District property and assets in an ethical and responsible manner in accordance with federal laws, state statutes, Board policies, and related administrative guidelines.Maintain confidentiality of information as required under federal laws, state statutes, Board policies, and related administrative guidelines.Report actions, through the appropriate chain of authority, that may represent violations of federal laws, state statutes, Board policies, and related administrative guidelines.Refrain from unethical activity that may reasonably interfere with the legitimate operational interests and goals of the District.Comply with all other federal laws, state statutes, Board policies, and related administrative guidelines.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESPromote good safety practices and proceduresMake contact with the public with tact and diplomacyMaintain respect at all times for confidential informationInteract in a positive manner with staff, students and parentsDispose of debris and maintain equipment and supplies in a neat and orderly mannerReport to Head Custodian or Lead Custodian, Buildings and Grounds Supervisor any damaged, broken, loose fixtures and/or equipmentSecure building; check building to assure maximum securityAttend meetings and in-services as requiredMaintain a daily work routine as established by the Head Custodian and Buildings and Grounds Supervisor to adequately service the buildings, grounds, and personAbility to communicate effectively with students, parents, colleagues and administration.Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from students, parents, agencies, intervention specialists or members of the school community.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, peers, parents and community; ability to speak clearly and concisely in written or oral communication.Ability to work in a team environment.Sweep, vacuum, mop and wax floorsEmpty and clean waste receptacles, trash pails, and pencil sharpenersRemove cobwebs and clean windowsPolish furniture and woodworkClean and maintain custodial equipment and materialsClean and sanitize assigned school, e.g., restrooms, classrooms, spills, etc.Help with setup and cleanup for various school activitiesUse, measure and relabel chemicals per OSHA standardsClean carpetsWash all furniture, walls, halls, windows, window seals, and doorsDisinfect water fountainsSpot mop and mop classroomsRemove writing on wallsMaintain respect at all times for confidential informationDispose of debris and maintain equipment and supplies in a neat and orderly mannerAdjust to various locations and work requirements as needed, perform other duties as assigned by the Buildings and Grounds SupervisorPerform minor repairs, including, but not limited to, repair desk, painting.Request needed equipment,…
