Project Accounting Manager

Vernovis is partnering with a growing organization to identify a Project Accounting Manager to lead project-based accounting operations while serving as a trusted financial partner to Operations. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys owning complex projects end to end, leading and developing a team, and ensuring strong financial performance across a diverse project portfolio.

• Oversee all project accounting activities, including month-end close, forecasting, and financial reporting
• Partner closely with Operations on job costs, cash flow, billings, budgets, and forecasts
• Lead monthly Project Recap meetings and provide clear financial insights to stakeholders
• Ensure projects are forecasted accurately and maintained in a positive cash flow position
• Own project setup and maintenance including structure, funding, revenue, billing, rates, and at-risk setup
• Govern project revenue accuracy with discipline and strong internal controls
• Identify, define, and improve financial processes to increase speed and accuracy
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of project accountants and staff
• Deliver exceptional financial value-add service to internal and external partners
• Model strong leadership, accountability, risk awareness, and safety practices

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Construction or project-based industry experience strongly preferred
• CPA is a plus
• Proven leadership and team development experience
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and financial acumen
• Ability to interpret accounting standards, contracts, and regulations
• Experience presenting financial information to internal and external audiences
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Self-starter mindset with high attention to detail
• Proficiency in MS Office and project accounting systems
• Viewpoint experience strongly preferred
