Requirements (Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification)
  • A Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university in the area of behavioral science, criminal justice, government, law, public administration or related field and/or a minimum of 5 years full-time experience working with offenders.
  • Five years supervisory and administrative experience in the field of counseling, human service delivery, or corrections, is preferred.
Licensure and Certification Requirements

An independent license in social work or counseling (LISW or LCDCIII) is preferred. Certification as a Certified Chemical Dependency Counselor started within one year of employment. Possession of a valid Ohio Operator’s Permit.

Job Duties (Summary)
  • Coordinates the treatment of residents through communication and directives of the Clinical Supervisor that are assigned to each pod.
  • Daily review of group and schedules occurring as assigned.
  • Updated schedules as required to insure timely accurate services
  • Conducts weekly staff meetings.
  • Performs observations of staff and outside vendors performing groups
  • Participates in Due Process hearings.
  • Ensures behavioral logs are maintained for all residents.
  • Conducts new resident orientation.
  • Knowledgeable of resources for residents in the Reentry Phase of the program totransition back into society.
  • Ensures timely and accurate client file maintenance for the department.
  • Ensures department meets all ACA, ODRC, Sex Offender audit standards.
  • Assist the Executive Director in recruiting, selecting and recommending the hiringof qualified personnel.
  • Assist the Executive Director in directing the development and maintenance ofa management information system that works cooperatively with the systems established
  • by the court and other agencies of the criminal justice system.
  • Assist the Executive Director in helping set policy for file and records management,security and retention.
  • Assist the Executive Director in overseeing the implementation of the behaviormanagement system.
  • Helps set policies and procedures to ensure the safety of employees, residents and the public.
  • Utilizes disciplinary action whenever necessary to ensure the effectiveness and integrity of the program.
  • Defines expectations and evaluates the performance of employees to encourage and promote employee professional growth and to maximize services rendered.
  • Establishes horizontal and vertical communication among employees through
  • regular individual and team meetings to encourage full staff participation in program development.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality with respect to information obtained and processed in the operation of the facility.
  • Responds in person, when required, to any problems and/or emergencies at the facility in a timely manner.
  • Understands and used CBT
  • Teaches group as needed
  • Trains staff on Substance Abuse and T4C training

  • Knowledge of Cognitive Behavioral Treatment (CBT).

  • Ability to supervise and manage.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with agencies, supervisors, associates, residents and the general public.
  • Skills in oral and written communication.
  • Knowledge of minimum security needs.
  • Knowledge of programmatic design for intermediate sanctions in community corrections.
  • Knowledge of basic computer capabilities/terminology.
  • Knowledge of legal liabilities in community corrections.
  • Ability to understand psychological reports and tests.
  • Ability to handle emergency situations.
  • Working knowledge of community resources.
  • Proven ability in staff development and training.
  • Experience working with criminal offenders is highly desired.
  • Ability to deal with resident grievances.
  • Visual ability to effectively operate office equipment including copier, facsimile machine and audio visual aids.
  • Hearing ability sufficient to communicate effectively with other individuals both in person and over the telephone.
  • Speaking ability sufficient to communicate effectively with other individuals in person and over the telephone.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to read and prepare reports with recommendations, correspondence, instructions, policies and procedures.
  • Skills in oral and written communication.
  • Visual ability to read and prepare reports.
  • Ability to remain calm in tense situations.
