Job Overview

Hoxworth Blood Center (HBC), University of Cincinnati, was founded in 1938 and serves more than 30 hospitals in 18 counties in Southwestern Ohio, Northern Kentucky, and Southeastern Indiana. Annually, Hoxworth collects more than 100,000 units of blood from local donors to help save the lives of patients in area hospitals. Hoxworth Blood Center:
Saving Lives Close to Home. HBC is located within the College of Medicine and is the only Regional Blood Center owned and operated by a University in United States.

The Hoxworth Blood Center is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Director of Growth to lead strategic growth and expansion initiatives across all donor collections, including Neighborhood Donor Centers (NDCs), mobile blood drives, and emerging service lines across both existing and new markets. This full-time (100% FTE) leadership position will be responsible for identifying, developing, and executing business growth strategies that increase donor participation, optimize collection site performance, expand market presence and drive sustainable revenue growth.

The Director of Growth will collaborate closely with Donor Recruitment, Marketing, Operations, Hospital Services, Community Partners, and report to Executive Leadership to align growth strategies with organizational priorities, regulatory requirements, and operational capabilities.

Key responsibilities include overseeing market expansion planning and execution, evaluating new collection sites, cultivating strategic partnerships, and developing go-to-market strategies for new programs and services. The Director will ensure all growth initiatives are scalable, financially sustainable, operationally feasible and deliver a strong return on investment for all growth initiatives.

Essential Functions
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive growth strategy to expand donor collections across mobile drives, NDCs, and other service lines.
  • Identify and evaluate new market opportunities, including demographic analysis, competitive landscape, and demand forecasting.
  • Lead site selection, business case development, and launch planning for new NDC locations and expansion initiatives.
  • Drive optimization of existing footprint by improving performance of underperforming drives, sites, and territories.
  • Partner with Donor Recruitment and Marketing to enhance donor acquisition, retention, and engagement strategies.
  • Establish and manage strategic partnerships to expand mobile drive opportunities and donor pipelines.
  • Develop scalable playbooks, including operational readiness, staffing models, and marketing strategies.
  • Collaborate with Operations and Labs to align growth initiatives with capacity, supply chain, and production constraints.
  • Build financial models and ROI analyses for expansion initiatives.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) related to donor growth, site productivity and market penetration.
  • Monitor and report on growth performance; adjust strategies based on data-driven insights.
  • Identify and implement innovative growth channels and service offerings.
  • Ensure all growth initiatives comply with regulatory and accreditation standards.
  • Develop and manage budgets associated with growth initiatives.
  • Provide leadership and direction to growth and expansion teams.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to executive leadership on growth opportunities.
  • Provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.).

Required Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Marketing or related field.
