Shipping Coordinator Supervisor

What You Will Do:
  • Directly supervise Shipping Coordinators and shipping personnel, providing daily guidance and support.
  • Conduct regular one-on-one meetings, performance evaluations, coaching sessions, and development planning for team members.
  • Manage employee attendance, scheduling, vacation requests, and staffing requirements.
  • Investigate and address employee performance concerns, corrective actions, and disciplinary matters in accordance with company policies.
  • Train, mentor, and develop employees to ensure operational proficiency and career growth.
  • Foster a positive and engaged work environment that promotes teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Lead daily startup meetings and communicate performance expectations, safety topics, and operational priorities.
  • Coordinate and oversee daily outbound shipping activities and transportation performance.
  • Ensure shipments are processed accurately, on time, and in compliance with customer requirements.
  • Monitor workload distribution and measure accuracy.
  • Manage freight quotes, carrier claims, shipment escalations, and transportation exceptions.
  • Analyze freight costs, carrier performance, routing strategies, and load-planning opportunities to identify cost‑saving initiatives.
  • Maintain operational reporting, dashboards, and KPI metrics.
  • Drive accountability for departmental KPIs including on‑time shipping, productivity, quality, safety, and freight spend.
  • Lead root cause investigations and implement corrective actions for recurring operational issues.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities that increase efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service levels.
  • Lead warehouse and shipping continuous improvement projects.
  • Ensure compliance with all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Drive participation in Safety Good Catch and safety observation programs through coaching, reporting, and awareness initiatives.
  • Partner with Environmental Health & Safety personnel to investigate incidents and implement corrective actions.
  • Partner with warehouse, manufacturing, transportation, customer service, and supply chain teams to improve operational performance.
  • Support the Warehouse Operations Manager in developing and executing departmental objectives and strategic initiatives.
  • Assist with labor planning, budget management, and expense control efforts.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for shipping‑related operational issues and customer escalations.
What You Need to Succeed:
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3-5 years of warehouse, shipping, logistics, or transportation experience.
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, reporting, and data analysis.
  • Strong knowledge of logistics, transportation, warehousing, and freight management.
  • Strong sense of urgency.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, drive accountability, and develop employees.
  • Strong problem‑solving, root cause analysis, and decision‑making skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, customer service, and continuous improvement.
