Summary/Objective Graphic Village is seeking a detail‑oriented Estimator to prepare accurate print estimates while managing purchasing activities that support efficient production and profitability. This role bridges estimating, procurement, and production by ensuring jobs are priced correctly and materials and services are sourced cost‑effectively and on time.

Essential Functions
  • Review job specifications including size, quantity, substrates, inks, finishing, and delivery requirements
  • Prepare accurate cost estimates for offset, digital, large format, packaging and specialty print projects
  • Calculate material, labor, press time, bindery, finishing, and outside service costs
  • Collaborate with Sales, Customer Service, and Production teams to clarify job details and timelines
  • Ensure estimates align with production capabilities and profit margin goals
  • Assist with job costing analysis and post‑job reviews to improve estimating accuracy
  • Purchasing & Procurement
    • Purchase paper, ink, substrates, finishing supplies, and outsourced services based on approved estimates
    • Source and evaluate vendors to ensure competitive pricing, quality, and reliable delivery
    • Request and compare vendor quotes for materials and outside services
    • Issue purchase orders and track orders to ensure timely delivery for production schedules
    • Resolve vendor issues related to pricing discrepancies, shortages, damages, or delays
    • Maintain accurate purchasing records and vendor pricing databases
    • Work closely with Production to forecast material needs and prevent shortages or overstock
  • Process & Cost Control
    • Maintain and update estimating and purchasing data in MIS/ERP systems
    • Monitor material costs and vendor performance to identify savings opportunities
    • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to estimating accuracy and purchasing efficiency
    • Assist with inventory management and reconciliation as needed
Qualifications & Skills
  • 2+ years of experience in print estimating, purchasing, or print production (preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of print processes including offset, digital, large format, packaging and finishing
  • Experience with print MIS/estimating systems (e.g. Tharstern, Pace, EFI, Print Smith, or similar)
  • Solid understanding of paper stocks, substrates, coatings, inks, and finishing options
  • Strong math, analytical, and negotiation skills
  • High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong communication and vendor relationship skills
Preferred Experience
  • Commercial print or graphics industry experience
  • Purchasing or procurement experience in a manufacturing or production environment
  • Familiarity with inventory control and vendor management
