Laundry Operator

Job Title

Performs a variety of duties to meet Home Office laundry requirements including washing, drying, ironing and repairing.

What you will do:

• Manage and operate commercial washing machines, dryers, and other laundry equipment to ensure efficient processing of laundry items.
• Receive, sort, and classify laundry items based on type and color, ensuring proper handling and care for different fabrics.
• Load machines with laundry, select appropriate washing and drying cycles, and monitor the process to ensure quality results.
• Fold, press (hand iron and or utilize press machine), hang, and package clean laundry items for delivery or storage, ensuring they meet presentation standards.
• Perform minor repairs to clothing including but not limited to minor sewing (buttons, hems) and use of iron on patch material.
• Perform routine maintenance on laundry equipment, including cleaning filters and reporting any mechanical issues to management.
• Adhere to safety and sanitation standards, including proper handling of chemicals and maintaining a clean work environment.
• Informs supervisor of equipment problems and other issues.
• Provide excellent service to customers, addressing any inquiries or concerns regarding laundry services.
• Assists Housekeeper with light cleaning duties as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Complies with all policies and standards.

• High School Diploma Or GED

• Previous laundry experience
  - Required
• Demonstrated experience working independently. Experience must include identifying and resolving problems where independent decision-making and initiative were demonstrated

• Demonstrated knowledge of detergents and cleaning agents and their use.

• Demonstrated commercial mechanical ability sufficient to operate laundry equipment.

• Demonstrated ability in sewing and garment repair.

• Demonstrated ability to effectively interact and communicate with all levels of staff and management.

• Demonstrated ability to read and comprehend written and oral instructions.
  
  - Required
• Working knowledge of basic computer with the ability to retrieve emails, send emails and access the intranet homepage

Work Setting/Position Demands:

• Demonstrated ability to stand, walk, sit, stoop, reach, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, push, balance, climb and lift on a regular basis. Lifting includes raising objects from a lower to higher position or to move objects horizontally from position-to-position. Frequently lifting objects up to 50 pounds unassisted and over 50 pounds assisted.
• Requires both verbal and written communication exchange accurate information to customers and associates on a regular basis.

Requires visual acuity to read and interpret correspondence and procedures via paper and electronic documents, visual inspection involving small defects; small parts, and/or operation of machinery
