Environmental, Health, and Safety Coordinator

The EHS Coordinator supports day-to-day EHS compliance, training, hazard identification, corrective actions, and safe work practices in a manufacturing environment. This position partners closely with plant leadership, production supervisors, maintenance teams, and employees to integrate EHS requirements into daily operations, promote environmental stewardship, drive continuous improvement, and build a proactive safety culture across all facilities.

Additional Manufacturing-Focused Responsibilities

  • Partner with plant leadership, production supervisors, and maintenance personnel to ensure EHS objectives are integrated into daily manufacturing operations and business goals.
  • Support manufacturing operations by identifying and mitigating safety risks associated with production processes, equipment, materials, and employee work practices.
  • Participate in production meetings, facility improvement initiatives, and capital projects to ensure EHS requirements are incorporated during planning and implementation.
  • Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to support machine safeguarding, lockout/tagout compliance, ergonomics, and preventive maintenance programs.
  • Monitor workplace conditions on the production floor and provide recommendations that improve employee safety, productivity, and operational efficiency.
  • Assist facility leadership in driving continuous improvement initiatives related to safety performance, incident reduction, regulatory compliance, and environmental sustainability.
  • Conduct regular walkthroughs of manufacturing areas to identify hazards, verify compliance with EHS standards, and support corrective action implementation.
  • Support new equipment installations, process changes, and manufacturing expansions by evaluating EHS risks and recommending appropriate controls.
  • Maintain and update EHS compliance information within contractor management portals (e.g., Avetta, ISNetWorld) and coordinate responses to customer EHS compliance requests, audits, and documentation requirements.
  • Provide EHS support for multiple shifts and work schedules as necessary to ensure consistency in safety expectations and compliance across the workforce.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources and Operations leadership on employee engagement initiatives, safety recognition programs, and EHS training efforts. These additions will position the role as a true business partner to operations rather than solely a compliance-focused EHS function, aligning it more closely with modern manufacturing organizations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, Environmental Engineering, Industrial Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field; equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of Environmental, Health, and Safety experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or production environment. Experience supporting multiple facilities is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations, environmental compliance requirements, risk assessment methodologies, incident investigation, and safety management systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner effectively with plant leadership, production supervisors, maintenance teams, and employees to achieve EHS and operational objectives.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing operations, including machine safety, lockout/tagout, hazard identification, ergonomics, industrial hygiene, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills with the ability to deliver training and communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work independently while also functioning as a collaborative member of cross-functional manufacturing and leadership teams.
  • Professional EHS certifications such as ASP, CSP, OHST, CHMM, or related credentials are preferred.
