Materials Specialist
The Materials Specialist is responsible for the movement of material to support the schedule demands of the organization. They are responsible for coordinating inventory deliveries of raw and finished goods to the warehouse or production lines to support customer and company objectives. They are responsible for ensuring inventory records are kept accurate by entering data into the business system while improving inventory accuracy levels.
PrimaryAccountabilities
- All activities performed are to follow documented Standard Work.
- Verify counts to ensure inventory accuracy and correct quantities are processed.
- Verify kanban card or pull signal reporting quantity being pulled are correctly scanned or entered into business system.
- Verify all material is packaged following Standard Work, with protection from damage, to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Perform cycle counts and/or physical inventory counts as required.
- Understand the reasons and process for scanning material accurately and how to transfer material from one location to another.
- Ensure material pulls are accurately scanned by part number, quantity, and location.
- Identify material issues/concerns and help to provide possible solutions for resolution.
- Inform others when there are material issues (system count does not match on‑hand count).
- Understand the methods and process on how to fix material issues.
- Meet performance objectives.
- Move material to and from locations throughout the plant using motorized or manual equipment.
- Able to lift, bend, stoop, climb, and stand for long periods of time.
- Able to operate forklift to move scrap bins and other containers to the weigh scales to account for and record weights.
- Record accurate weights of scrap container, gross weight of scrap and record in log with identification number.
- Provide scrap weights on a weekly and monthly period for the total amount of scrap processed.
- Fill out proper scrap paperwork and notify accounting with the weights of accumulated scrap.
- Operate forklift, pallet jacks, cranes and other manual or motorized equipment as required to support material movement.
- Forklift inspection.
- Other duties as assigned.
