Chemical Manufacturing Technician

This role combines hands-on chemical manufacturing operations with cleanroom technician responsibilities in a fast-paced production environment. You will lead and perform blending, mixing, batching, and packaging activities, operate a wide range of process equipment, and ensure strict adherence to safety, quality, and documentation standards across multiple shifts in a chemical manufacturing facility.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and verify all utility systems, including hot water units and heat exchangers, to ensure equipment is ready for safe and efficient operation.
  • Operate production equipment such as reactors, kettles, mixers, pumps, filtration systems, forklifts, and supporting utilities in accordance with established standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Handle material movement by loading, unloading, staging, and packaging products, while completing all required batch records and documentation accurately.
  • Monitor and track process conditions, record operational data in real time, and promptly report unusual trends, deviations, or concerns to appropriate personnel.
  • Run systems such as extruders, packaging equipment, wastewater treatment units, and boilers while meeting safety, quality, and performance expectations.
  • Participate in shift change updates and daily production meetings to support seamless workflow, clear communication, and alignment between teams.
  • Calibrate equipment and instruments in line with established gauge and measurement standards to maintain accuracy and reliability.
  • Enter inventory movements and material transactions into the ERP system with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Use approved checklists to complete equipment changeovers, line clearances, sanitation tasks, and verification steps to support GMP compliance.
  • Confirm raw material identity, lot numbers, and quantities before staging materials for production to ensure correct usage and traceability.
  • Utilize digital tools and resources to support on-the-job learning, task execution, and adherence to procedures.
  • Seek clarification when needed to ensure full understanding of tasks and to minimize risk in daily operations.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, support teams, and management to address safety, quality, or production flow concerns in a timely manner.
  • Complete mandatory training, certifications, and assessments within required time frames to maintain qualifications and compliance.
  • Follow all environmental, health, safety, and quality guidelines to maintain a compliant, hazard-free work environment.
  • Maintain clean, organized work areas in alignment with housekeeping standards and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) expectations.
  • Offer constructive feedback to peers to help strengthen team performance, collaboration, and overall operational excellence.
  • Perform blending, mixing, compounding, and batch making activities for chemical, food, pharmaceutical, or fragrance products as required.
  • Operate batch mixers, blenders, and other chemical manufacturing equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Support chemical handling and filtration processes while adhering to FDA-regulated and GMP-compliant practices where applicable.
  • Use forklifts to move materials, stage products, and support production and warehouse activities safely.
  • Follow proper PPE requirements at all times to protect yourself and others in the facility.
  • Perform heavy lifting and extended periods of standing as needed to support production operations across assigned shifts.
Essential Skills
  • At least 1 year of experience working in a manufacturing environment within chemical manufacturing.
  • Hands-on blending and mixing experience in food, pharmaceutical, or chemical manufacturing.
  • Proven experience operating forklifts in a production or warehouse setting.
  • Ability and willingness to stand for the entire shift.
  • Ability to work in a non–temperature-controlled facility.
  • Experience with chemical operation, chemical mixing, and chemical handling in a production environment.
  • Proficiency in following and executing standard operating procedures (SOPs).
