Rolling Mill Operator-1st shift

Rolling Mill Production Operator

Monday - Friday 4am-3:30pm Monday: 6:00am – 2:30pm, Tuesday – Friday 4:00am – 3:30pm. (once hired on FT they would move to the hourly matrix and be eligible for weekly production bonus)

Pay Rate: $18

Rolling Material to required size, assist rolling mill supervisor, assist during maintenance days, in any aspects of the mill and ensure the tasks are complete.

• Primary Responsibility
  • Ensure all safe practices are followed and look for continuous improvement
  • Use Ajax to size intermediate and finishing mills for set up
  • Keeping all stands (1-16) at designed size
  • Maintain communication with Mill adjust personnel to ensure finish product is prime quality
  • Maintain expected production rates
  • Inspection of new stands after installation in mill to ensure proper set-up before rolling
  • Maintain constant axle temperatures by adjusting furnace temps when needed
  • Other duties, but not limited to;
    Material loader, Furnace Operator, Lily Pad, Hot bed, Cold shear, Scale, Bundling, Mill Adjuster, Wood/Wire, Stand Installation, Greasing/Oiling, Sprocket/Chains (mill changeover), SteelMES, Axle sorting, Axle inventory, Fork Truck operation, Overhead crane, Oxy/Gas Torch cutting, Material testing

  Job Duties
  • Assist main rolling mill positions by keeping product moving at needed pace
  • Assist during maintenance days in all areas as directed
  • Mill water system upkeep
  • HMD system readiness
  • Log all mill sizing in Mill Sizing app with Macro
  • Cleaning furnace debris and mill scale

Attention to detail, Excellent writing skills, Experience in manufacturing a plus

Ability to stand for long periods of time, Ability to bend, walk, twist, lift and turn, Constant dominant hand activity, Ability to lift up to 50lbs, Ability to use hands and arms in handling, positioning and moving material, Ability to verbally Communicate

PPE required, Concrete flooring, Artificial lighting, Exposed to outside elements, building with an open door

Compensation / Pay Rate (Up to): $18.00 - $18.00
