GeneralSummary of the Job:
The Technical Marketing Associate role is available to people with varying degrees of experience, knowledge, and responsibility. It shares some similarities with Product Marketing in terms of general duties and responsibilities – but focuses more on technical product knowledge and customer engagement.
People in this role generally have a deep understanding of the products/capabilities they are assigned. This means that they understand why a product/capability operates and how to best apply them to address the business challenges of our target customers. They accomplish this by doing market research, interacting with customers, collaborating with product management, and working with other functional areas across the company.
Through these interactions, Technical Marketing Associates contribute to messaging, positioning, value propositions, and product specifications that drive the success of the products/capabilities they are assigned. They are the internal experts on target personas and the buyer's journey, and they should be able to articulate the problems that customers face and how the assigned product/capability can address those problems. Typical deliverables consist of market research reports, positioning documents, technical presentations, demo outlines, demo videos, competitive positioning, white papers, and other relevant and compelling assets that help win business for the assigned products/capabilities.
Technical Marketing Associates are occasionally called upon to speak and participate at events, participate in webinars, conduct, and participate in round tables, and engage with sales in select customer engagements. They are measured on achieving the KPI targets of the team and product/capability they are assigned.
Essential Functions:- Gathers and documents input from market research, sales feedback, and customer interactions
- Develops or contributes to messaging briefs, product specifications, competitive positioning, and other source documents
- Maintains hands‑on working knowledge of product capabilities, roadmaps, and release schedules for assigned products
- Provides market and customer insights to product management to support the development of high‑quality solutions capabilities
- Partners with sales enablement, and other necessary stakeholders, to ensure that the field has been properly educated on our solution offerings
- Monitors and measures the effectiveness of technical assets against defined KPIs
- Collaborates with product management, product marketing, and industry marketing to ensure that the messaging, positioning, and value of assigned product/capability is being properly represented within our broader industry solutions
- Provide operational support for technical content creation, engaging cross‑functional participants and managing the content calendar, workflow, and deadlines
- Create technical assets to support campaigns, events, and customer engagements
Required:
- Comfortable working across geographically dispersed teams
- Skilled at project management
- Strong process and metric orientation
- Solid research and data gathering skills – such as market/industry trends, customer pain points, and needs analysis
- Analytical skills to measure effectiveness of technical assets and make data‑driven decisions on what to change, discontinue or improve
- Writing and presentation skills to serve as the internal subject matter expert on a given solution and to give customer‑facing presentations, meetings, interviews, etc.
