Communication Manager, UC Cancer Center
A full-time Communication Manager position is available in the UC Cancer Center. The Communications Manager is responsible for planning, developing and implementing communications and related tools that advance the Cancer Center's research reputation, strategic priorities and stakeholder engagement objectives. This position manages content development across multiple channels, coordinates communications projects, and collaborates with internal and external partners to promote the achievements of Cancer Center investigators, programs and initiatives.
The role requires a strong combination of strategic thinking, project management, storytelling and relationship-building skills.
Essential Functions
- Develop and implement communications that support Cancer Center priorities by overseeing the production of articles, social media content, web content and other written material in a deadline-driven environment.
- Partner with Cancer Center leadership, faculty, researchers, and staff to identify, develop and promote stories that showcase research discoveries, program achievements and community impact.
- Manage the Cancer Center's editorial calendar for newsletters, reports, websites, announcements and other communications.
- Own the email communications and research website channels.
- Keep the Cancer Center's CRM system up to date to ensure the right stakeholders receive the right communications.
- Assist the Marketing and Communications Director in collaborating with institutional marketing and communications teams to coordinate communications efforts and maximize reach.
- Maintain awareness of evolving communications trends, digital technologies and best practices relevant to academic medicine, research and higher education.
- Maintain files, review drafts and documents for accuracy and grammar.
- Perform related duties based on departmental needs.
Required Education
Bachelor's Degree
Required Experience
Three (3) years of relevant experience required
Physical Requirements/Work Environment
Office environment/no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.
