Overview

The Communications Manager at Fifth Third Bank collaborates with division/LOB leadership and cross‑functional partners to drive strategic messaging, writing, staging, and delivery of communications. This role builds credibility as a trusted partner through business acumen, effective communication, project management, and client relationships.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee strategic messaging, writing, staging, and delivery of communications for divisions and lines of business (LOB).
  • Manage and implement communication plans that raise awareness of strategic initiatives, ensuring clear, consistent, and accurate messages to appropriate audiences.
  • Determine key messages for audience groups and ensure an integrated, well‑coordinated approach across all communication elements.
  • Monitor messaging related to content, volume, and brand compliance.
  • Coordinate communications among multiple simultaneous initiatives and vehicles, managing relationships with functional leaders and content owners.
  • Ensure all content is consistent with the Bank’s brand, vision, purpose, and values.
  • Produce communications vehicles in various formats (newsletters, emails, mailers, intranet, HR Hub, text, video, etc.) and ensure timely, accurate, and appropriate content for all audiences.
  • Edit and proofread content for clients as requested.
  • Create overall communications strategy to support LOB/Division strategic initiatives, core processes, and key projects.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor, partnering with senior leaders to develop and execute communication strategies.
  • Audit and track communication strategies to ensure they meet employee needs and remain relevant.
  • Integrate PACE approval methodology for compliance and expedite communication approvals.
  • Help build and maintain executives’ personal brands and reputations through strategic communications.
  • Provide consulting activity from verbal advice to formalized, customized communication materials or presentations for key programs or projects.
  • Oversee delivery calendar, proactively managing the volume of initiatives delivered to partners, managers, and employees.
  • Maintain all distribution vehicles and ensure accuracy of published content.
  • Develop strategic partnerships with leaders to understand business strategy and present analysis of current state with recommendations for innovative communication solutions.
  • Integrate awareness of communications and projects across centers of excellence.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or related field.
  • Five to eight years of communications experience.
  • Excellent writing, editorial, and research skills with the ability to communicate complex or technical information effectively.
  • Proficient with multi‑media communications, including video.
  • Web content management and basic design skills are a plus.
  • Strong judgment, conflict resolution, and multi‑project management abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (O365, Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint), Web Ex, Polite Mail, and related tools.
  • Experience with issues management and proven project management skills.
  • Ability to translate strategies into specific goals, tactics, action plans, and deliverables; monitors execution to ensure goals are met.
  • Strong leadership presence and proven ability to consult with multiple levels of management across the organization.
  • Experience managing multiple, complex projects with a track record of results.
  • Self‑motivated with strong business acumen and strategic thinking skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and realize new opportunities.
  • Banking experience preferred.
Working Conditions

Normal office environment with minimal exposure to dust, noise, and temperature. Requires extended computer screen use and high concentration. Local or overnight travel may be required; access to a car is necessary.

The base salary for this position is reflective of the range of salary levels for all roles within this pay grade across the U.S. Individual salaries within this range will vary based on factors such as role, relevant skill set, experience, education, and geographic location. This position is eligible for an incentive compensation plan, with any such payment based upon company, line of business, and/or individual performance.
