The position is a full‑time Ameri Corps service member serving 1,700 hours (40 hours per week) over an 11‑month term of service from September 1, 2022 to July 31, 2023. The incumbent reports directly to Mairead Kenney and Megan Philpott at CREW, and works five days a week, eight hours each day (Monday‑Friday). This role focuses on supporting CREW scientists dedicated to Oak conservation Cryobiotechnology, including plant cultivation, greenhouse and laboratory upkeep, data reporting, and participation in research projects.
MemberDuties
General laboratory upkeep, including, but not limited to:
- Washing dishware
- Maintaining and sterilizing equipment
- Preparing media
- Processing fecal samples from a variety of species
- Observing and scoring behavioral videos
- Other tasks as required
Additional responsibilities: working with other species (felids and polar bears) as part of CREW’s AIRS research; evaluating, assessing, and reporting program goals and outcomes; measuring impact of and goals for the program year; participating in mid‑year and end‑of‑year performance reviews; completing bi‑weekly timesheets; attending professional development workshops, service projects and training opportunities.
