Position: Membership Recruitment Specialist - Part Time (Central)

Position Overview

Girl Scouts of Western Ohio has a great opportunity to join our organization as a Membership Recruitment Specialist
! The role serves the Central region between Lima, OH and Dayton, OH. The position is seasonal, part‑time, community‑based and offers up to 10‑15 hours per week during the peak recruitment season (April–November). A flexible schedule is required, including evening weekday hours (4:00‑9:00 pm) and occasional weekend availability. Travel up to 30 miles is expected, using your personal vehicle with eligibility for mileage reimbursement.

Ideal candidates include students, parents, or anyone looking to supplement their income, who have a flexible schedule and can engage the local community. Responsibilities include leading community and school‑based education sessions, hosting open‑house meetings, networking at community events, and recruiting and registering girls, adults and volunteers. Speakers must be comfortable in public group settings at schools and community centers, meet target recruitment goals, and provide follow‑up communication.

Summary

The Membership Recruitment Specialist is responsible for leading community and school‑based meetings to educate caregivers and girls about Girl Scouts and organize and register girls to troops or other opportunities. The specialist will identify and register potential troop volunteers, assist caregivers in registering girls, and provide follow‑up communication with participants and council staff to support increased registration.

Essential Functions
  • Lead Girl Scout membership recruitment events at schools and community locations for girls, caregivers, and potential adult members.
  • Represent the Girl Scout organization in educating caregivers and girls about Girl Scout opportunities.
  • Recruit and register new Girl Scout troop volunteers, including educating potential volunteers about the role and support available.
  • Assist potential members in completing the online registration process, encouraging and supporting participants to register at the event, and sending follow‑up email or text to all participants.
  • Partner with designated staff and/or community Girl Scout volunteers to prepare for recruitment meetings and to hand‑off registration information and supplies, ensuring timely follow‑up with participants for ongoing engagement.

Travel

This community‑based position requires regular travel to assigned recruitment events (up to 30 miles). The role is not eligible for remote work.

Required

Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent education, training, and experience demonstrating the ability to perform the duties of the position.

Preferred experience working with schools and community organizations, presenting to groups, and comfortable public speaking.

Familiarity with Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel is required. Use of a personal device and internet service is necessary for online training, email communication, timekeeping, and lead entry.

Compensation & Benefits

Paid at $16.00 per hour. This position is not eligible for benefits.
