Area Director I
Through spiritual leadership and proper management, lead in developing a team in the area to carry out Young Life’s mission of introducing kids to Jesus Christ and helping them develop their faith.
Ministry Functions- Spiritual Development – Prayer and spiritual disciplines, fellowship, growth and health, and church relationships. Develop a yearly personal growth plan that fosters a vibrant spiritual life including solitude, retreat, reflection, prayer, and a sincere commitment to understanding God’s Word.
- Leadership Development – Equipping leaders, recruiting, team building, training, supervision, and vision casting. Partner with the Regional Director and Committee to cast a vision for reaching “every kid” within the defined area and build unity through consistent gatherings with committees, leaders, and staff.
- Resource Development – Fueling the ministry through events, major donor care, public relations, and the TDS team. Lead the area’s fundraising strategy, secure partnerships, and maintain a surplus reserve.
- Direct Ministry – Proclaiming and modeling through contact work, clubs, Campaigners, and camps. Engage at all levels, lead or co‑lead model clubs, supervise Campaigner ministries, and evaluate local schools/ministries annually.
- Ministry Support – Accounting, administration, internal communication, data management, and strategic planning. Maintain professionalism, stewardship, and accurate records while communicating clearly with all stakeholders.
- Participate in the mission‑wide staff conference every four years.
- Attend additional training or experiences deemed necessary (e.g., urban exposure, TDS training).
- Attend regional training as directed by the Regional Director.
- Pursue continuing educational opportunities, including graduate degrees.
- Participate in programs designed for personal spiritual maturity and professional skill enhancement.
- Must have completed Core Training – Phase One.
- Proven leadership skills.
- Proven relational skills with both kids and adults.
- A call to reach kids with the Gospel.
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Must profess a belief in Jesus Christ as personal Savior and sign the Young Life Statement of Faith.
- Must be able to handle extreme working conditions associated with camp assignments (heat/cold, dirt, long hours, hiking, horseback riding, boating, etc.).
Work will include extremes of a camp assignment such as heat, cold, dirt, long hours, and the physical demands of hiking, horseback riding, boating, and other outdoor activities. The successful candidate must be able to perform under these conditions.
