For over 150 years, St. Vincent de Paul – Cincinnati (SVDP) has served residents of greater Cincinnati by providing essential services and resources to those in need. The Events and Partnership Assistant plays an integral role in supporting SVDP’s engagement efforts by assisting the External Relations team with events, drives, and partnerships that fuel SVDP's mission.

Position Summary

The Volunteer Manager plays a key role in overseeing and expanding SVDP’s volunteer programs, including support for Sweet Cheeks Diaper Bank. Working with the Volunteer team, this role manages and enhances the volunteer experience across recruitment, onboarding, engagement, and retention. This hands‑on, fast‑paced role requires a collaborative, proactive, and highly organized professional with strong interpersonal and problem‑solving skills, capable of managing multiple priorities while advancing SVDP’s mission.

This is an in‑person role, Tuesday through Saturday, with occasional evenings and additional weekend hours, primarily for special events.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee volunteer operations, ensuring effective engagement, appropriate coverage, and strategic support in alignment with SVDP’s mission.
  • Partner closely with team members to align priorities, share responsibilities, and maintain consistency in processes, communication, and the volunteer experience across all programs.
  • Manage volunteer scheduling for individuals and groups to ensure adequate coverage for programs, distributions, events, and drives.
  • Maintain calendars related to volunteer shifts and group service projects.
  • Ensure accurate recordkeeping and uphold data integrity within the volunteer database.
  • Track and report on volunteer participation, trends, and engagement metrics, providing insights to guide planning and decision‑making.
  • Collaborate across departments to align volunteer resources with programmatic needs and organizational goals.
  • Maintain volunteer spaces and resources, ensuring they are organized, functional, and welcoming.
Recruitment
  • Coordinate volunteer recruitment efforts, responding to inquiries and conducting outreach to schools, parishes, corporations, and community groups.
  • Build and maintain relationships with community partners to support ongoing volunteer engagement and program growth.
  • Represent SVDP at volunteer fairs, community events, and outreach opportunities.
  • Collaborate on the development of promotional materials and communications to support volunteer recruitment and engagement.
Onboarding
  • Ensure compliance with all volunteer requirements including background checks, Safeguarding training, and necessary documentation prior to service.
  • Oversee the volunteer onboarding process, ensuring a positive and welcoming experience that prepares volunteers for success in their roles.
Engagement & Retention
  • Implement strategies to promote volunteer engagement, satisfaction, and retention, including ongoing communication, recognition, and appreciation initiatives.
  • Maintain consistent communication with volunteers, including thank‑you messages, updates, and information on opportunities for continued involvement.
  • Gather feedback and recommend improvements to enhance the volunteer experience.
  • Plan volunteer appreciation events and other engagement activities.
  • Prepare newsletters, email updates, and other communications to keep volunteers informed and connected.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, including special projects and initiatives.
