Unit Details- Variety of diagnoses in behavioral health – opportunity to gain experience.
- Opportunity to work in the psychiatric emergency service.
- Clinical ladder program – advancement from a CN 1 nurse through unit projects with monetary benefits and career engagement.
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing, preferred.
- Current OH RN License.
- BLS/ACLS/PALS per department requirements.
- NCI‑APS (Nonviolent Crisis Intervention with Advanced Physical Skills) Certification within 90 days of hire for employees in Psychiatric Services.
The RN holds a current state license to practice nursing. The RN utilizes knowledge from biological, physical, behavioral, social, and nursing sciences to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care. The care is culturally based and age‑specific.
- Prepares, implements, evaluates, revises, and coordinates interdisciplinary plan of care for each assigned patient.
- Communicates formulated plan of care to all levels of associates involved in the patient’s care.
- Gives clear instructions to patients/family regarding treatment and involves family/guardian in assessment, initial treatment, and continuing care.
- Identifies and responds appropriately to different patient needs resulting from behavioral health problems, unique psychological needs, or those associated with religious/cultural norms.
- Demonstrates critical thinking, accountability, flexibility, and a cooperative attitude in meeting the unit’s needs.
- Documents nursing process accurately and concisely per hospital policy.
- Acts as a resource person and mentor for new personnel, floaters, or supplemental staff.
- Assumes responsibility for personal professional development and contributes to the professional development of peers and colleagues.
