The RN/LPN generally assumes a charge nurse role, which is key in providing a productive work environment, quality resident care, and front-line leadership. Reporting to the nursing supervisor, the charge nurse maintains unit morale and ensures daily compliance with Federal, State, and local regulations.

  • Responsible for maintaining unit morale by providing a team-based work environment through effective team leadership and a positive attitude, including STNA assignment and supervision.
  • Assumes a lead role in employee-related issues such as discipline, performance evaluations, retention, and development of qualified personnel.

Works with the Nursing supervisor to ensure compliance with Federal, State, and local regulations governing the long-term care industry.

  • Develops and maintains good rapport with inter-departmental and cross-functional personnel.
  • Facilitates unit communication through regular staff meetings to identify and resolve issues and improve services.
  • Responsible for training and assessing the skills of nursing personnel, ensuring all unit members are knowledgeable and compliant with residents' rights and responsibilities.

RN/LPN Job Duties

  • Assists with resident admission, transfer, and discharge.
  • Participates in preliminary resident needs assessments and in developing written care plans.
  • Performs daily resident visits to assess and evaluate changes in resident status and nursing needs.
  • Completes medical forms, evaluations, and incident reports promptly.
  • Administers medications and treatments as directed by the physician or nursing supervisor.
  • Maintains proper procedures for medication and medical supplies management.
  • Consults with the nursing supervisor and/or physician on planning, treatment, and rehabilitation, notifying appropriate personnel of any resident condition changes.
  • Stays current with regulations and procedures through professional publications and seminars.
