Position: Registered Nurse, (RN-CN1) (WOW), Surgical Oncology, Part Time, Days, ONA

Shift: 12 Hour AM – Weekends Only (WOW)

Location: UC Medical Center, Cincinnati, OH, United States

Department: Surgical Oncology 9 CCP

Hours: Part Time, Weekends Only (WOW)

UC Health is hiring a Part‑Time Registered Nurse (RN) to support the 24‑bed Surgical Oncology unit and Level I Trauma Center, delivering high‑quality care to patients based on assessed needs, established standards of care, and policy and procedure. The unit cares for patients undergoing surgery for pancreatic, liver, thoracic, gynecologic/oncologic, vascular and colorectal conditions, as well as acute care surgery patients.

Nursing care is concentrated around recovery after surgery including mobility, monitoring intake and output, and pain management.

Qualifications
  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
  • Associate’s Degree, minimum required
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing, preferred
  • Current OH RN License
  • Current BLS/ACLS/PALS per department requirements
Responsibilities
  • Prepare, implement, evaluate, revise, and coordinate interdisciplinary plan of care for each assigned patient in collaboration with the healthcare team and patient/family.
  • Communicate formulated plan of care to all levels of associates involved in patient care and prioritize based on patient assessment.
  • Give clear instructions to patients/family regarding treatment and involve family/guardian in assessment, initial treatment, and continuing care.
  • Identify and respond appropriately to different patient needs resulting from behavioral health problems, psychological needs, or cultural/religious norms.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking, accountability, flexibility, and a cooperative attitude in meeting the unit’s needs.
  • Accurately and concisely document nursing process, evaluation of treatment, and compliance with hospital policy and procedure.
  • Act as resource person and mentor for new personnel, floaters, and supplemental staff working on the unit.
  • Assume responsibility for personal professional development and contribute to professional development of peers and colleagues.
