Job OverviewThe Department of Anesthesiology is seeking Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNA) under faculty physicians to administer anesthesia, conduct preoperative assessment, monitor patients, and provide postoperative care across the University Health system.
Essential Functions- Conduct preoperative evaluation and determine appropriate anesthetic technique in consultation with attending anesthesiologist.
- Prepare equipment for anesthesia administration, including checking machines, blood pressure cuffs, endotracheal tubes, and anesthetic drugs.
- Administer anesthesia, monitor vital signs and anesthesia effects, and record patient condition during and after drug administration.
- Conduct postoperative follow‑up, escort patients to the PACU, and assess recovery within 24‑48 hours post‑anesthesia.
- Administer anesthesia only under direct supervision of a faculty physician anesthesiologist.
- Report any malfunctioning equipment.
- Supervise RNSA students in clinical instruction and anesthesia administration.
- Participate in call coverage with faculty anesthesiologists.
- Master’s degree; DNP degree preferred.
- Current nursing license in Ohio.
- Certificate of Authority to practice in Ohio as a CRNA by the Ohio Board of Nursing.
- Current certification or recertification as a nurse anesthetist by the NBCRNA.
- Meets educational requirements set by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs.
- Obtained an appropriate Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university of recognized standing in a field appropriate to the position. Active progress toward a doctorate is preferred.
