Triage Registered Nurse - Perinatal Programs

Job Overview

This is a telephonic triage RN position that has the responsibility of triaging all obstetrical and gynecological patient phone calls for the OB GYN Centers. The tri‑phone RN assesses patients’ symptoms over the phone and provides advice, determining the appropriate level of care using the established protocols and advice of providers. This is not a remote position.

• Full‑Time (80 hours bi‑weekly)

• Associate's Degree or Diploma in Nursing (Required)
• Bachelor's Degree - Nursing; new hires required to obtain BSN within 5 years of hire (Required)
• Experienced licensed RN in Ohio with 5+ years of experience in labor and delivery or women’s health. Must possess strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, decision‑making skills, excellent verbal and written communication, and proficiency in charting in Epic.
• Registered Nurse upon hire required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) upon hire required

• Demonstrate strong clinical judgment, communication skills, evaluate patient needs, offer advice, and document appropriately. Escalate urgent and emergent cases to medical providers as warranted.
• Answer incoming calls in a timely manner with excellent customer service, telephone, and communication skills, including tone and accuracy.
• Collect and document patient data to determine the best course of action following protocols. Facilitate care coordination between physicians, hospitals, pharmacies, other specialties of TH, and the patient.
• Obtain and utilize working knowledge of Epic, Cadence, Cisco Phone System. Voalte messages must be complete and thorough, including all medical advice rendered and routed to the appropriate pool.
• Report critical or vital lab values, call for care instructions, and process referrals. Voalte/call physicians in a timely manner.
• Place pharmacy orders and document in patient chart for physician signature after obtaining a telephone order. Uphold patient privacy, confidentiality, and HIPAA when entering chart or providing information.
