The Certified Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides high-quality, integrated medical and psychiatric care to individuals receiving residential and outpatient substance use disorder and mental health services. Working within a multidisciplinary treatment team, the NP conducts assessments, prescribes and manages medications, and supports recovery-oriented, trauma-informed care consistent with the organization’s nonprofit mission and values of kindness, honesty, and respect.
This role supports continuity of care across service levels and contributes to a safe, ethical, and compassionate treatment environment.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesClinical Care
- Conduct comprehensive medical and psychiatric evaluations for residential and outpatient clients
- Diagnose and treat mental health and substance use disorders within the scope of practice
- Prescribe, monitor, and adjust psychotropic and other medically indicated medications
- Provide Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT), including buprenorphine, naltrexone, and related services
- Monitor withdrawal management, medication side effects, and overall client stability
- Collaborate with nursing, counseling, and medical staff to coordinate care plans
- Participate in interdisciplinary treatment team meetings
- Communicate effectively with therapists, case managers, nursing staff, and leadership
- Coordinate care with external providers, hospitals, pharmacies, and referral sources as needed
- Support discharge planning and continuity of care
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain timely, accurate, and compliant clinical documentation in the electronic health record (EHR)
- Ensure services comply with federal, state, and licensing requirements
- Adhere to HIPAA, confidentiality, and organizational policies
- Participate in quality improvement and clinical audits as requested
Professional Responsibilities
- Maintain active licensure, certifications, and continuing education requirements
- Provide clinical consultation and education to staff as appropriate
Uphold ethical standards and best practices in behavioral healthcare - Promote a respectful, inclusive, and recovery-oriented treatment environment
- Active, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in the state of Ohio
- Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited program
- Prescriptive authority and DEA registration (or ability to obtain)
- Minimum of 2 years clinical experience in behavioral health, substance use disorder treatment, primary care, or a related field
- Strong knowledge of psychopharmacology and integrated care models
- Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) certification
- Experience in residential substance use disorder treatment settings
- MAT certification and experience
- Experience working in nonprofit or community-based healthcare settings
- Familiarity with trauma-informed care and harm reduction principles
- Full-time position, 40 hours per week
- Schedule may include occasional evenings, or flexibility based on program needs
- Work performed in residential and outpatient clinical settings
