Position: Nurse (RN )

Join our mission to help individuals with mental illness and addictions to lead healthy and productive lives. GCBHS has an immediate opening for a Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN) to provide nursing services to adults experiencing mental health and substance use disorder.

The GCB nurse provides direct nursing care in accordance with the Ohio Board of Nursing and established GCB policies, procedures, and protocols. They follow the steps in the nursing process to implement and monitor a holistic plan of care for behavioral health patients, may serve as a coordinator in collaboration with other disciplines for patient care issues, and monitor, record, and communicate patient condition while carrying out physician and nursing orders.

Responsibilities
  • Provide nursing services (primarily med/somatic) on‑site and within communities to clients with a psychiatric nursing focus.
  • Administer medications and injections and provide medical/health screening and minor physical health duties (e.g., dressing changes, blood pressure screening, monitoring glucose levels).
  • Provide psychiatric nursing assessment of individual clients as it relates to medication complications.
  • Assess the effectiveness of psychotropic medication therapy and educate clients on medications, side effects, and drug interactions; attend ACT team meetings.
  • Initiate, coordinate, and monitor evaluations necessary to identify patient needs in areas such as living arrangements, financial concerns, physical/psychiatric health, activities of daily living, vocational/educational, social supports, leisure and recreation.
  • Use assertive outreach to engage the patient in identifying and expressing their needs, offer services to assist in meeting these needs, and re‑assess outcomes.
  • Focus on relapse prevention and mental and physical health promotion, working closely with teams to identify and evaluate factors leading to relapse and collaborating with other providers to develop and implement service interventions that ensure patient holistic health stability.
Requirements
  • OH Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license.
  • Experience working with persons who have chronic mental illness (preferred).
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and time management skills.
  • Ability to be flexible with work schedule and assignments.
  • Experience or residence in the Warren County area is a plus.
