The Emergency Department at Bethesda North Hospital provides high-acuity, fast-paced care to patients experiencing urgent and emergent conditions. As a Registered Nurse, you will deliver direct and indirect holistic care, collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary team, and support patients and families through critical moments. This role requires strong clinical judgment, rapid decision-making, and a commitment to safe, high-quality patient care.

The Emergency Department

Welcome to the fast-paced heart of Bethesda North Hospital's Emergency Department, one of the busiest EDs in Cincinnati, caring for both adults and children through every kind of medical emergency. As a Level III Trauma Center and Stroke Center of Excellence, this is where skilled nurses thrive, sharpen their instincts, and make an immediate impact.

Across 44 beds, you'll join a tight, highly coordinated team that's ready for anything from trauma cases to critical medical crises. With flexible scheduling, varied shift lengths, and a tailored 6-12 week orientation, you'll grow quickly while feeling supported from day one.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform initial and ongoing patient and family assessments; document per Tri Health standards.
  • Develop, implement, and update individualized plans of care.
  • Provide safe, therapeutic nursing care while maintaining dignity and autonomy.
  • Recognize and respond to emergency and rapidly changing clinical situations.
  • Communicate effectively with providers and the care team.
  • Complete all assigned patient care and documentation within required time frames.
  • Serve as a resource by sharing clinical knowledge and assisting with staff development.
Qualifications

Required
  • Associate's Degree or Diploma in Nursing.
  • BSN required within 5 years of hire.
  • Active Registered Nurse license.
  • BLS/CPR for Healthcare Providers.
  • Strong foundation in biological, physical, behavioral, and social nursing sciences.
Preferred
  • More than 1 year full-time or 2 years part-time acute care experience.
  • Membership in related professional organizations.
  • Specialty certification (e.g., CEN, TNCC).

Job Overview:

This position applies the nursing process in providing direct and indirect holistic care to patients and their families. The position also collaborates, in a collegial manner, with physicians and other health care team members in meeting the patient's needs. This position may delegate certain aspects of care to those under their direct supervision, within the scope of nursing practice.
