Job Overview
The College of Medicine, Department of Surgery, is looking for a full-time Advanced Practice Provider (APP). The APP will assist in providing comprehensive, continuous, and personalized care to patients of the Division of Surgical Oncology. The candidate will interact closely with a large multidisciplinary group including surgeons, physicians, pharmacists, dietitians, nurse coordinators, nurses, trainees (fellows, residents, and medical students), and consulting services across the medical center and region.
The successful candidate must be detail-oriented, well organized, adaptable, and an excellent communicator, with willingness and ability to provide continuity across transitions of care.
- Take patient history, conduct physical examinations, and record data in the patient’s record; write progress notes and narrative discharge summaries; prepare patient workups and summaries noting pertinent positive and negative findings.
- Order and schedule laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures; explain the necessity, preparation, nature, and anticipated effects of scheduled diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to the patient.
- Train new personnel.
- Participate in teaching medical students, residents, fellows, physician assistant students, nurse practitioner students, and pharmacy students in techniques and procedures unique to the specific clinical setting.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Demonstrate excellent organization and time management skills and excellent interpersonal skills with patients, families, and health care workers.
Minimum Qualifications (Nurse Practitioner)- A master's degree in nursing from an accredited nursing program.
- Active Ohio APRN license with prescriptive authority.
- Active Board Certification in appropriate nursing specialty.
- Three (3) years nursing experience.
- Additional related work experience may be required depending on specialty/sub-specialty.
- Two (2) years of clinical experience.
- Graduated from an ANA approved Nurse Practitioner Program.
- Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
- Certification as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
- Active Ohio Physician Assistant license with prescriptive authority.
- Additional related work experience may be required depending on specialty/subspecialty.
