Position: Registered Nurse (RN- CN I), Medicine 8NW, Part Time, Days, ONA

Job Overview

UC Health is hiring a part‑time Registered Nurse (RN) Clinical Nurse (CN I) for the Acute Care Medicine 8 Northwest unit at UC Medical Center. The position is for days shift, 12‑hour AM periods, with a total of 24 hours per week.

Unit Summary

The Acute Care Medicine unit is situated between the 3rd and 4th floors, with 30 beds and nurse‑to‑patient ratios ranging from 4 to 6. The unit supports the medical center’s medicine and Level 1 Trauma Center, caring for patients transferred from the Emergency Department and occasional lateral transfers.

Qualifications
  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Associate’s Degree, minimum required.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing, preferred.
  • Current Ohio RN License.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare, implement, evaluate, revise and coordinate an interdisciplinary plan of care for each assigned patient in collaboration with the healthcare team and the patient/family.
  • Communicate the care plan to all levels of associates involved in care and establish priorities of care based on patient assessment and needs.
  • Provide clear instructions to patients/family regarding treatment and involve family/guardian in assessment and ongoing care.
  • Identify and respond appropriately to patient needs related to behavioral health problems, unique psychological needs or religious/cultural norms.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking, accountability, flexibility, and a cooperative attitude in meeting unit needs.
  • Document nursing processes accurately and concisely, including evaluation of treatment in accordance with hospital policy and procedure.
  • Serve as a resource person and mentor for new personnel, floaters, and supplemental staff.
  • Assume responsibility for personal professional development and contribute to the professional growth of peers and colleagues.
