JOB DESCRIPTION
This position applies the nursing process in providing direct and indirect holistic care to patients and their families. It collaborates collegially with physicians and other healthcare team members, and may delegate certain aspects of care to personnel under its direct supervision within the scope of nursing practice.
JOB OVERVIEWThe RN will deliver nursing care, collaborate with the interdisciplinary team, supervise delegated nursing staff, and support organizational initiatives for quality improvement and patient advocacy.
JOB REQUIREMENTS- Associate's Degree in Nursing (required)
- Must obtain BSN within 5 years of hire (required)
- Up to 1 year clinical nursing experience (required)
- Registered Nurse license (required)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and PALS may be required or preferred depending on unit/department
- Demonstrate organizational responsibilities and identify areas for self‑improvement through self‑assessment and peer review.
- Provide leadership on the unit and facilitate learning experiences for students.
- Support organizational and unit changes and participate in committees, staff meetings, and councils.
- Build collegial relationships with physicians and other healthcare team members.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and maintain communication with the chain of command.
- Apply the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
- Evaluate the plan of care based on patient outcomes, document patient/family response, and revise the plan as needed.
- Supervise care delegated to other team members.
- Maintain patient autonomy, dignity, and rights in a safe and therapeutic environment.
- Consult the Tri Health Code of Ethical Business and Professional Behavior for ethical decision making.
- Prioritize workload based on patient needs and unit demands, and respond to emergencies.
- Perform initial and ongoing patient and family assessment, including health counseling and teaching needs.
- Administer medications/treatments safely and monitor their effects.
- Plan and implement patient care guidelines, update care plans, and involve the patient and family in care planning.
