One full‑time staff position for Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant is available in the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Nephrology and Hypertension at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. This position will work in the transplant section within the division of Nephrology to provide inpatient, outpatient, pre‑ and post‑transplant services at UCMC.

This position will enhance the quality of care given to transplant patients by providing dedicated care to non‑renal solid organ transplants, including long‑term transplants. Duties will include pre‑transplant recipient evaluations including pre‑op assessments; donor questionnaires and wait list management; and follow‑up on donor list, wait list, and pre‑op care issues. Additionally, this role will focus on living kidney donation education, patient care, and related patient care improvement initiatives.

• Practice clinical/Patient Care according to professional practice standards and institutional policy/procedure.
• Ongoing assessment, when appropriate, is performed and documented according to policy.
• Assessment demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and identification of the patient’s needs as they relate to a development level and cultural dimensions.
• Interpretation of the patient’s condition and abnormal findings is communicated in a timely manner to the physician and all appropriate members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
• Participating in hospital and provider performance improvement activities
• Caring for all aspects of outpatient functions for kidney transplant clinic including waitlist management
• Responsible for coordination of care for transplant patients across their various multi‑disciplinary teams ensuring necessary patient care is accomplished
• Education for transplant patients including medication adherence, signs of rejection/infection, vaccination guidelines, lifestyle modifications, transplant process, and living donation
• Provide cross‑coverage for fellow transplant APPs during scheduled time off, managing their patient panels for routine and urgent needs to ensure continuity of care.

• Master’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program

• Active Ohio APRN license with prescriptive authority
• Active Board Certification in appropriate nursing specialty

• Three (3) years nursing experience.

• Master’s Degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program

• Active Ohio Physician Assistant license with prescriptive authority
• Certification as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants
