- Where Neurocritical Care Meets Purpose Good Samaritan Hospital is a Comprehensive Stroke Center dedicated to caring for the most complex stroke patients. The 7Q Neurosurgical ICU at Tri Health Good Samaritan Hospital is a specialized 20-bed unit focused on providing intensive care for patients with complex neurological conditions. The unit cares for individuals with aneurysms, brain tumors, spinal injuries, abscesses, arteriovenous malformations, and traumatic brain injuries, as well as patients participating in various research protocols.

The multidisciplinary team on 7Q is dedicated to delivering specialized care for these critically ill patients, using advanced monitoring techniques and individualized treatment plans. The orientation process for nurses joining 7Q includes comprehensive training to develop the specialized skills necessary for neurosurgical critical care. This includes EKG and ACLS training, as well as critical care classes, followed by a six-week competency-based orientation (CBO) preceptorship.

Prior experience in neuro or critical care is preferred for those joining the 7Q ICU, and a minimum of one year of current medical/surgical or telemetry experience is recommended. However, new graduates may also be considered, particularly for the Neuro Stepdown unit, where they can gain foundational experience before transitioning to the ICU. Why You'll Love This Role

This position is delegated the responsibility and accountability to coordinate the patient care delivered on a shift, through assigned nursing personnel, on a specific unit(s). The Charge Nurse functions in a non-management capacity and often has a patient assignment.

Job Requirements:

* Associate's Degree - Nursing Nursing (Required)
* New Hires required to obtain BSN within 5 years of hire (Required)
* 1 - 2 years Clinical in Nursing experience (Required)
* 1 - 2 years Progressive Leadership (Preferred)
* Knowledge, judgment, and skills derived from the principles of biological, physical, behavioral, social, and nursing sciences to meet complex health care needs at various stages of the life cycle
* Certification within specialty area within two years of assuming position preferred
* Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification (ACLS) ECG Interpretation competency and ACLS Certification within 12 months of assuming role. Maintains ECG competency and ACLS certification while in role
* Registered Nurse Required
* Active participation in applicable professional organization. Preferred

Job Responsibilities:

Assists in coordinating the delivery of patient care in collaboration with others. Communicates with the unit staff, and acts as a resource concerning standards of care, policies, and procedures. Identifies actual/potential problems. Cooperates with instructors and students from various programs and creates assignments and work schedules to match patient needs and staff abilities.
